  • How a Multivitamin Can Help You Lose Weight!

There are many supplements on the market today that are advertised as the guarantee to your weight loss. Some are marketed towards the bodybuilding crowd, others are genders specific and are marketed towards women only, and others are promise weight loss and energy. In fact, there are so many out there on the market today, that you can lose sight of the supplements that are fundamentally important. These are supplements that you should be taking regardless of your goal, or even if you do not have a goal at all. One of these supplements, is the multivitamin.

The multivitamin should be the most important supplement in your arsenal in the battle against excess body fat. A multivitamin should never replace a healthy diet, but should definitely be included in one, as it is your "nutritional insurance." A quality multivitamin will ensure that you are getting adequate amounts of key vitamins and minerals that you simply cannot consume enough of via diet alone. This makes a multivitamin especially important for someone that is reducing the amount of calories they consume, since eating less calories means eating less vitamins and minerals.

OK, so you're convinced that a multivitamin is a good idea, but how could it possibly help you lose weight? Well, as you may already know, hunger can be caused by a number of things. Some people believe that different colors can trigger hunger "pangs," others believe that the smell of food can trigger hunger. What has always made the most sense however, as far as the reason for hunger "pangs," is the fact that when you reduce your calorie daily calorie intake, you are getting fewer nutrients, as mentioned above. Since your body is lacking in nutrients that it normally receives through your former diet, the feeling of hunger is induced, in an effort to get you to eat, and therefore get the same amount of nutrients that you used to get.

Well, when you are taking a multivitamin, you will most likely be getting all, if not more, of the nutrients that you would typically get from a higher-calorie diet. And if you are getting the same or more nutrients, then there is no reason for your body to induce feelings of excessive hunger, since your daily vitamin and mineral requirements will be met via consistent multivitamin supplementation. This is how a multivitamin can help you lose weight .

So if you are not taking a multivitamin currently, be sure to hit your local health food store and pick one up. And I say your local health food store, because generally the brands that they carry will offer better quality multivitamins than your local grocery store or pharmacy.

  • Creatine for Weight Loss Continued

In the first article I've ever written for ezinearticles.com, I talked about how supplementing with creatine is not just for males and bodybuilders anymore, and that creatine can in fact help you burn excess body fat as well as build and retain your hard-earned muscle mass.  In that article, I’ve listed some suggestions as to what creatines to stay away from as well as what creatines to take, including my personal favorite at the time.  Since then however, I have discovered a brand new creatine that has worked better for me than any other kind.  In this article, I share with you what that creatine is, how it works, why it is effective, and the exact brand that I currently take and recommend.  Before we get into that however, lets do a short recap.

So how does creatine work again?  Creatine works by building muscle.  It does this by pulling water that you drink into your muscle cells, causing them to expand.  When these individual muscle cells expand, the muscle will expand as a whole.  I always like to use the analogy of filling up a water balloon under a kitchen faucet.  The more water that enters the balloon, the more it expands, and the more full and hard it gets.  Well, your muscle cells are like this balloon, and the creatine is the faucet!

And how does it work to help you lose weight?  Once again, creatine builds muscle.  The larger muscles get, the more calories they need to sustain their new size.  Therefore, the muscles will “eat” if you will, stored body fat for fuel.  Creatine is also helpful during dieting if you are looking to lose weight without compromising lean muscle mass.  Often times, when a person goes on a diet, they will lose hard-earned definition by reducing their overall daily calorie intake.  Creatine will help you reduce your calorie intake to burn fat without reducing the size of your muscle mass.

Con-Cret®: The Future of Creatine ®

Ok, so we went over how creatine works, and how creatine helps with the reduction of stored body fat.  But what is this new kind of creatine that works so well?  As promised, I will let you in on that right now.  The type of creatine that I will be taking for life, is known as creatine hcl.  This stands for creatine hydrochloride.  Creatine, no matter what type, is all the same.  What makes the difference in how effective one creatine is versus another, is how well absorbed it is.  The absorbability equals the potency, and creatine hcl is by far, the most potent creatine on the market.

As I have written in my first article, creatine is usually cycled, meaning that you take the product for about 6 weeks, then discontinue its use for 6 weeks, then go back on for 6 weeks, and repeat this process or “cycle.”  The type of creatine hcl that I have been using is by a company called ProMera Health and goes under the brand name of “Con-cret.”  It boats that it is 59 times more potent than creatine monohydrate (an old school form of creatine) and that there is no need to cycle the product and that there are no side effects to this product, unlike other creatines which can cause bloating, gastrointestinal discomfort, and possible kidney damage.  Also, you don’t need to take a lot of it, just 1-2 extremely small scoops in a bit of water or juice is all you need.

I was a bit skeptical when I first saw this product, but I really wanted to start taking creatine again after cycling off of it for a while, and decided to give this product a fair try.  And boy was I pleased!  After only 3 days on the product, my strength increased significantly and my muscles looked fuller and harder than ever before.  Believe me when I tell you that I am very critical of most supplements and am not getting paid by ProMera to write this.  My mission is to give my readers all of the most true and effective information that I have to give so they can get the most out of their diet, workout, and supplement plan.  It is very rare when I do a supplement review, so do yourself a favor, go out and get this supplement as soon as you can.  You’ll be glad you did.

  • BCAA Blast!

Anyone who is familiar with my writings knows that I am a big fan of creatine to help the user gain lean muscle mass while helping the user to lose weight.  It has come to my attention over the years however that not everyone can take creatine.  Most people that I have met have no problem with it, but there is a large amount of people who experience some negative side effects from even what is considered to be the most "safe" forms of creatine.  Some of these side effects include bloating, stomach discomfort, and muscle cramping.

I wondered if there was a better way.  "There had to be a supplement that could give creatine-like results without the side effects," I thought.  And so, I did some investigating.  And what I discovered was amazing!  For those of you who don't know, what creatine actually does, is pull water that you drink into your muscle cells, causing the muscle cells to expand, therefore creatine stronger, larger muscles.

The "creatine replacement" if you will, that I discovered has actually been around for years and should be a part of EVERYONE'S supplement routine.  The supplement that I am referring to is known as Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs for short).  As you know, amino acids are the building blocks of protein.  In other words, protein is the culmination of amino acids. Well, branched chain amino acids are the three amino acids that the body cannot manufacture and can therefore only receive from foods that contain them or from a branched chain amino acid supplement.  These amino acids are L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, and L-Valine.

So how do branched chain amino acids work?

Well, in order to gain lean muscle, your body needs to convert dietary protein from food and supplements into muscle.  This process is known as "protein synthesis."  Branched chain amino acids help to cause this process and act as a "deliver system" for the protein that you eat.  You see, you can eat protein all day long, but a lot of it will be excreted out if you have a BCAA deficiency.  Therefore, it is essential to consume branched chain amino acids, especially post workout along with your protein shake.

Also, it is important to note that in order for your branched chain amino acid supplement to work, the supplement will have to have a  praticular ratio in which the specific BCAAs are arranged.  This ratio is 2-1-1.  This means that the supplement will have to have two parts L-Leucine, one part L-Isoleucine, and one part L-Valine.  For example, if there is 3 grams of leucine, then there will have to be 1.5 grams of isoleucine and 1.5 grams of valine.

The BCAA supplement that I use is called "BCAA Blast," as shown in the picture above.  It comes in watermelon or blue raspberry flavor.  I have the watermelon flavor.  It's sugar-free, calorie-free, and tastes great!  It also includes 3 grams of L-Glutamine as well for muscle recovery.  There are 30 scoops in the small container and a serving size is one-two scoops post-workout along with your protein shake.  It's also pretty cheap compared to most BCAA supplements.  I got mine for $29.99 at a local Vitamin Shoppe.

How do BCAAs help the user to lose weight?

Well, since branched chain amino acids help to synthesize protein into muscle, this means that your muscles will grow larger.  Larger muscles burn stored calories as fuel to help maintain your new muscle size.  This is how BCAAs help to burn body fat.  This supplement is safe for anyone to take, so if you are not taking a BCAA supplement, I'd recommend that you do so.

  • Greek Yogurt Burns Fat!

So I was searching through my cabinet the other day for my probiotic supplement and realized that I was completely out.  For those of you who don't know, probiotics are the good bacteria that helps your stomach function optimally.  I'll go over why you should be taking these in just a little bit.

Any who, I've been hearing that Greek Yogurt is an excellent source of probiotics.  Unlike typical commercial brands of yogurt, Greek Yogurt is 100% natural and is the way yogurt was traditionally made, before the addition of the excessive amounts of sugar and high-fructose corn syrup.  Also unlike commercial yogurts, greek yogurt is packed with protein!

I did some research on it and it looked good, so I went to the store a couple of days ago and bought a brand of greek yogurt called "Chobani."  I got the plain kind because it had only 9 grams of naturally occurring sugar and zero grams of fat.  Also, for one serving, it had 23 grams of protein and was loaded with healthy bacteria.

I've been eating it for breakfast lately.  I add 8 oz (one serving) to a small cup, then add in either sliced almonds or ground flax seeds, and a couple packets of pure stevia.  I have to say, it is awesome!

It's pretty much straight up protein and healthy fat (from the almonds or flax seeds).  And since I eat this every morning for breakfast now, it leaves the rest of the day open to be able to enjoy the carbohydrate-rich foods that I feel like having, without over eating on them.  This is how Greek Yogurt helps to lose weight

Why should you have probiotics everyday?

Generally, people only take probiotics when they are taking an antibiotic.  You see, when you are sick and the doctor tells you to take an antibiotic, the antibiotic kills all bacteria.  It can't differentiate between the good and the bad bacteria, so it kills all the bacteria that it can.  This means that along with the bad bacteria that is causing you to be ill, it's also killing your healthy intestinal bacteria.

So, the idea is to take a probiotic supplement to replace the good bacteria that the antibiotic destroyed.  However, if you think that you should only take a probiotic or eat probiotic-rich foods when you are on medication, think again.

If you eat chicken or steak, and it is not organic, chances are, whether you think so or not, you are taking antibiotics.  How?  Because the chicken and beef that you are eating most likely has antibiotics in it.  And as you now know, antibiotics will destroy your healthy intestinal flora.  This is another reason why I began to eat Greek Yogurt EVERY morning.

Just wanted to share that with my fellow xanga members!

  • Your Dream Body In Just 2 Hours Per Week!

Most people hate the idea of having to exercise.  They don’t like sweating, taking the time out of their day to do it, the motivation it takes to get started, the intense burning in their muscles during exercise, and the soreness they experience the days following their workout.  And you know what?  I don’t blame them!  None of this is exciting or motivating in any way, shape, or form.  Not to mention that lifting weights is extremely monotonous.  The weights go up, the weights go down.  The weights go up, the weights go down.  It’s boring, repetitive, and robotic.

I got tired of the monotony of the gym, and decided to do something about it.  I wanted to cut my workouts down in terms of time and effort, but didn’t want to sacrifice results.  I would normally perform six to eight sets of an exercise for each body part, split up throughout the week.  For example, like most bodybuilders, Monday would be the day I would exercise my chest and triceps, performing one exercise for each of those body parts, performing six to eight sets per body part.  The next day it would be the day to exercise the back and biceps.  The next day it would be another body part, and so on and so forth.  I found that I was exercising five to six days per week, which to me seems like too much in terms of overtraining the muscles, as well as too much time spent in the gym.

To avoid all of this, I’ve created a workout that delivers the fantastic results of my old, boring, and time-consuming workout without having to put in the time that I used to.  It's a great workout to help build muscle and lose weight, and it's only three days per week, in an “every-other-day” fashion, and should last no more than a half hour per session.  I like to do this workout Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  This way you get an entire day between workouts for your muscles to rest and recover, and simultaneously, you’re only working out three days per week!

Ok, so this fits into almost anyone’s schedule, but how about getting six sets in?  This is the easy part.  You’re going to perform a full body workout; however, you’re only going to perform two sets per body part.  Yes, you read that correctly.  Only TWO sets per body part!  Two sets per body part, performed 3 days per week equals six sets per body part.  And even better than this is the fact that if you have a simple dumbbell set, you can perform this exercise routine without ever having to leave your home.  So, without further ado, the exercise routine:

    1.      Shoulder Shrugs (trapezius): 2 sets

    2.      Shoulder Press (deltoids): 2 sets

    3.      Biceps Curls: 2 sets

    4.      Bench Press (chest): 2 sets

    5.      Triceps Extensions: 2 sets

    6.      Forearm curls: 2 sets

    7.      Rows (upper back): 2 sets

    8.      Deadlifts (lower back): 2 sets

    9.      Oblique crunches (side abs): 2 sets

    10.   Regular crunches (upper abs): 2 sets

    11.   Lying leg lifts (lower abs): 2 sets

    12.   Squats (bodyweight or with dumbbells): 2 sets

*For a complete guide to these exercises, please visit http://www.bodybuilding.com/exercises/

How many reps you wish to perform per set is up to you.  I usually perform anywhere between 10-15 reps per exercise now, because I believe that lifting in terms of volume as opposed to lifting heavier weight is better all around.  It pumps more blood into the muscles cells, engorging them, causing a nice vascular “pump” effect, allowing your muscles to look full and hard.  Also, lifting for volume is much easier on the joints, so it may actually be “healthier” to lift with less weight and more reps as opposed to more weight and less reps.

Also, remember that each exercise session should last no more than a half hour.  If you go a little bit over a half hour, that’s fine, but any more than 5 minutes over and you are probably taking too much rest in between your sets.  The idea is to get this done quickly, which actually provides another benefit.  Taking less rest in between sets elevates your heart rate.  So now not only are you lifting weights, but because you are jumping from exercise to exercise quickly, you are actually getting a heart-healthy cardio workout at the same time!
